If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention.
Anybody can see that the 2009 Illustrative Roeding Park Master Plan created by the City, Zoo and Storyland/Playland (below) is proposing to convert far more than 50% of Roeding Park to non-park commercial uses when expanded parking lots and the new high-traffic "Park Boulevard" thoroughfare are considered. The "Park" will essentially be relegated to the "Lawn" across the street from the Zoo.
Although slightly modified from the previous versions in an attempt to pacify citizen complaints, this new plan is still unacceptable because it fails to guarantee protection of all the existing trees and now seeks to convert even more parkland for an expanded Storyland and Playland - robbing the neighborhood of free access to the majority of Roeding Park.
